It is important to note that pet rats are seen as an Exotic Pet when it comes to vet care.
​
This means that NOT all vets will even see them, many do not. It also means vet care may be more expensive. It can often cost more to see a tiny rat than it does to see a dog/cat. Always know which vets near you will see rats in case of an emergency.
Do not just assume the vet you see for other pets will, or your local office you know of will. It is VERY likely they will not see rats. Call and ask! Below is a list of vets who will see rats.

It is important to note that not all vets are created equal and rats being a less common pet may mean some vets have little experience with them. I can not personally give my opinion on any of the vets listed. Don’t be afraid to ask questions when meeting/talking with them!
